What differentiates natural mineral water from drinking water? In truth, both satisfy the primary need of quenching one's thirst, but they are profoundly different.
The water cycle - technically known as the hydrological cycle - consists in the circulation of water within the Earth's hydrosphere, including changes in the physical state of water between the liquid, solid and gaseous phase.
For Italian law, commercially available mineral waters can be divided into several categories according to a legislative decree Decree-law 8th October 2011 n. 176.

In Italy mineral water containers must bear the description of natural mineral water, possibly combined with a grading based on the carbon dioxide content:
